Call to Prayer

Just before the election, our church got to together to pray for our country, sing hymns, and look at each item we would be voting on from a Biblical perspective. It was very helpful to have the men share something about each of the State questions. They researched the question and looked to see what the Bible had to say about each item and shared their findings. Then each man prayed. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and encouragement as we prayed for our country. We, as Christians, have a responsibility to cast our vote based off of Biblical principles, but ultimately we know that God places whomever He chooses in office.  Even Pharaoh, who was a wicked ruler that kept God’s people enslaved and treated them terribly, was told by God, “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” (Exodus 9:16) We also understand from reading in Daniel that it is God that “rules the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He will, and sets up over it the basest of men.” (Daniel 4:17)  Also, Daniel 2:21 states, “He (God) removes kings, and sets up kings.”  There is no misunderstanding the plainness of these verses in the fact that GOD establishes and removes kings and kingdoms.  This doesn’t negate our responsibility, for we have a gift in America of voting.

I like this picture of my good friends.  They wore these shirts as they went to the polls with their parents.  Here is an important verse to ponder: “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not proper.” (Romans 1:28)

After all of the men shared, we shared a meal together and had a wonderful time of fellowship.
