Wallace Sleep Eating

Wallace is such a funny little man. He is our little bundle of laughter. I can't believe he will be one next month!! Lately he has been "sleep eating." He goes and goes and goes until he just runs out of juice. He will fall asleep in his chair and continue eating in his sleep! It is quite amusing. Here is a video I caught of him.

Thaddeus' Baby Shower

"Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." Psalm 127:3

Our church truly holds to this verse and rejoices in each new baby born. Last Sunday we had a baby shower for the "B"'s new baby, Thaddeus. He is such a cutie and we had a lot of fun!

The man of the hour:
The "B" family:

The "baby bottle" cookies I made and the shower table:

The quilt Abby, Sydnee, Sherrod and I made for Thaddeus:

Poor Mr. B - he thought the gifts were for him!

Mr.B was being very funny catching M&M's. He caught an M&M three times in a row! If you click on the picture you can see the M&M flying though the air.

The Big Trip

Last week Daddy, Sydnee, Sherrod, and I all went to pick up a van we bought. We traveled by plane and drove the van back. We came home early because the youngest 4 children are sick.
It was the first time on a plane for us girls. It was interesting.

I took these pictures above the clouds from my window in the airplane. The first one is of the sun rising (our plane left at 5:55am).

The state where we picked up the van is the same state Daddy was born in. We have family there and were able to have a nice visit.

We stopped in two different graveyards to look at old family graves. The first picture is of our great-grandparents graves, Leo and Rosalyn:

This is our great-great-great-great grandfather's grave, William Shannon "---":

Our great-great-great grandparents graves, John andMargret:

All of the graves between Sherrod and me are family graves:

Daddy took us by the house he lived in when he was a little boy:

This is where he went to church:

We saw corn that was so huge, we had to take a picture!

We also went by the St. Louis arch.

We had a great time on our trip! Guess what? Mommy went to move the old van today, but it won't start! God's timing is perfect!

Catch Up

We've been very busy lately and I haven't had the chance to post. This morning we took Daddy, Abby, Sydnee, and Sherrod to the airport. Their flight left at 5:55am and we just received word that they've landed safely!
They will be picking up our new vehicle and visiting family. They will be back Sunday or Monday. Hopefully we will have some exciting pictures to share - it's their first time on an airplane!
Here are a few posts to bring me up to date:

Mommy's Birthday

Last week we celebrated Mommy's birthday. Although she had not been feeling well, we had a good time. Daddy brought home daisies, Mommy's favorite, and Abby made Mommy's favorite cake, a German chocolate 2-layer with sweet cream filling and ganache.

We each picked out special gifts for Mommy and enjoyed giving them to her.

This poem makes me think of how important we children are to our mother. A child's immortal soul is the best temple you can build.

TWO TEMPLES
A builder builded a temple,
He wrought it with grace and skill;
Pillars and groins and arches
All fashioned to work his will.
Men said, as they saw its beauty,
"It shall never know decay;
Great is thy skill, O builder!
Thy fame shall endure for aye."

A Mother builded a temple
With loving and infinite care,
Planning each arch with patience,
Laying each stone with prayer.
None praised her unceasing efforts,
None knew of her wondrous plan,
For the temple the Mother builded
Was unseen by the eyes of man.

Gone is the builder's temple,
Crumpled into the dust;
Low lies each stately pillar,
Food for consuming rust,
But the temple the Mother builded
Will last while ages roll,
For that beautiful unseen temple
Was a child's immortal soul.
--Hattie Vose Hall

It reminds me of Mark 8:36 where Jesus said, "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" I am thankful for a mother who chooses to pour her time, energy, and intelligence into me for the gain of my soul and love, rather than the temporary profit the world offers her. Thank you, Mommy! We love you!

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts." --Washington Irving

Brother's Visit

Last week Bryce and his family came to visit. They stayed with us for a couple of days on their way to their new base. We had so much fun playing croquet, sliding on the water slide (without water), and blowing bubbles.

Hayden,Bryce,Laci and Payton

Everyone loved jumping on the slide. Notice the funny positions they are in...

Fun Pictures

We've been having a lot of fun playing when we aren't doing schoolwork! Here are some fun pictures:

Wallace loves holding on to Vixey!

William likes playing with blocks. Abby helped him build these to say, "William, God is 4 U!" He's been doing a great job getting around. He has gotten really active! He'll even climb the slide all by himself! While we were playing croquet, Abby taught him to use the sticks as crutches. He couldn't really get around, but he could stand there leaning on them. He really enjoyed it!

Elly really likes her new scooter!

For those who only get to see Selah's "shy, quiet" side - this is more her "everyday" personality! "Cheese!"
Quiet times, reading and cuddling...

I thought this would be an interesting picture - my shadow...
